Comprehensive evaluation of the token
ZKCRO (Cronos zkEVM CRO) represents the native yield-bearing gas token for the Cronos zkEVM Layer 2 network. Across all evaluated dimensions, the project is characterized by its active sunset and decommissioning. The official Cronos zkEVM bridge and homepage display a closure notice and countdown timer instructing users to bridge out and withdraw assets. Data on Active Development was excluded (scored -1.0) due to network deprecation, with its 20% weight redistributed proportionally across remaining sections. Community support is virtually non-existent with only 69 holders and no dedicated governance channels (Score: 2.0). Market and use case viability is critically impaired by negligible trading volume, limited liquidity, and terminal loss of utility as the chain shuts down (Score: 1.5). Tokenomics reflects underlying CRO inflation risks and bridge closure uncertainties (Score: 4.5), while Team and Governance reflects centralized management winding down the network (Score: 3.0). Security analysis notes legitimate audits by Slowmist and an incident-free history, but highlights acute execution risks from the ongoing chain deprecation (Score: 5.0). Under the deprecated token rule, an Avoid recommendation is applied.

About Cronos zkEVM CRO (ZKCRO)
Cronos zkEVM CRO (ZKCRO) is a deprecated token that served as the native gas token and yield-bearing asset for Cronos zkEVM, a Layer 2 network built on Matter Labs' ZK Stack that is being decommissioned. Developed in collaboration with entities including Cronos Labs, Matter Labs, and Crypto.com, the token was structured as a liquid derivative backed by staked CRO on the Cronos PoS chain and locked LCRO via Veno Finance.
In addition to functioning as transaction fuel on the Layer 2 network, ZKCRO was designed to pass staking yields to holders. The token's smart contracts underwent an audit by Slowmist, and the ecosystem maintained a bug bounty program on HackenProof, operating without recorded security exploits or smart contract hacks.
The Cronos zkEVM network is undergoing an official shutdown, with the official bridge interface displaying a closure notice and countdown timer instructing users to withdraw and bridge out their assets. Alongside the termination of network operations, ZKCRO faces severe liquidity limitations, an extremely small holder base of approximately 69 holders, and risks associated with its underlying asset, CRO, which underwent a 200% supply expansion from 30 billion to 100 billion following a March 2025 governance vote.
