    AI Analysis

    Comprehensive evaluation of the token

Renzo (REZ) functions as the governance and incentive token for an EigenLayer-based liquid restaking protocol issuing ezETH. The protocol exhibits solid active development (Score 7.0/10) with recent infrastructure updates, an active bug bounty on Immunefi, and a comprehensive audit history involving Halborn, Sigma Prime, Nethermind, and Code4rena. However, several structural factors depress the token's overall profile. Tokenomics (Score 3.5/10) suffer from a lack of direct fee-sharing or value-accrual mechanics, with token utility confined largely to governance voting alongside heavy insider/private sale allocations. Market performance and use case (Score 5.0/10) reflect a highly competitive liquid restaking sector, low trading volume, and a severe unrecovered price drawdown from its 2024 launch highs. Governance and team transparency remain transitional (Score 4.5/10), lacking full technical bios and decentralized on-chain DAO execution. Security and Audit History (Score 4.5/10) notes strong auditing but reflects the historical April 2024 ezETH transient depeg and price crash considerations. No qualifying red-flag cap applies as the remediated April 2024 depeg is outside the 24-month window relative to August 2026, and price drawdowns alone do not trigger overall score caps.

    About Renzo (REZ)

Renzo (REZ) is the governance and incentive token for Renzo, an Ethereum-based liquid restaking protocol built on EigenLayer. The protocol allows participants to participate in restaking while maintaining liquidity through its derivative token, ezETH. Deployed on Ethereum in April 2024 with a fixed total supply of 10 billion tokens, the REZ token is utilized primarily for governance proposals regarding protocol parameters and framework extensions.

The protocol undergoes external security assessments, including smart contract audits by firms such as Halborn, Sigma Prime, Nethermind, and Code4rena, alongside an active bug bounty on Immunefi. Active development includes infrastructure releases, multi-chain expansions such as Solana integration, and the development of a MultiGov governance framework. However, governance operations remain transitional, with proposal submissions initially restricted to whitelisted wallets rather than an open, fully decentralized on-chain DAO.

Renzo has been subject to market and operational risks. In April 2024, its liquid restaking derivative ezETH suffered a brief depeg event triggered by liquidity and withdrawal pressures before market conditions normalized. Additionally, the REZ token experienced a severe, unrecovered price crash of more than 50% from its post-launch peak. The token's design also faces structural challenges, as REZ lacks direct protocol fee-sharing or revenue-capture mechanisms, and roughly one-third of the supply is allocated to insiders and private sale investors under multi-year vesting schedules.
