Comprehensive evaluation of the token
WMAPO (Wrapped MAPO) evaluation is severely constrained by critical security failures and substantial data gaps. Active Development and Team & Governance both scored -1.0 due to a lack of verifiable project data and search collisions with unrelated entities, requiring their weights (35% total) to be redistributed across the remaining sections. The project suffered a catastrophic qualifying red-flag event on May 21, 2026: "On May 21, 2026, MAPO — the token WMAPO wraps — plummeted approximately 96% after an exploit of the Butter Network cross-chain bridge, which Map Protocol uses." During this exploit, an attacker minted roughly one quadrillion MAPO tokens (hyperinflating supply by ~100,000x) and drained liquidity pools, destroying the supply integrity and causing an effective depeg and collapse of the wrapped asset. Furthermore, on-chain community participation is minimal, with shrinking holder counts and legacy contracts flagged as deprecated following the incident. Based on the surviving sections (Community Support: 2.5, Tokenomics: 1.5, Market & Use Case: 3.0, Security: 1.0), the redistributed weighted average yields an overall score of 2.0.

About Wrapped MAPO (WMAPO)
Wrapped MAPO (WMAPO) is an ERC-20 wrapped representation of MAPO, the native token of Map Protocol. Functioning as a 1:1 derivative asset, WMAPO was designed to allow the underlying MAPO asset to be utilized across Ethereum-compatible decentralized finance protocols. In its original design, the underlying MAPO token provided utility for staking, network transaction fees, and governance within the Map Protocol infrastructure.
On May 21, 2026, the project experienced a catastrophic security breach involving the Butter Network (Butter Bridge v3.1) cross-chain bridge utilized by Map Protocol. A fundamental flaw in how the bridge validated cross-chain messages allowed an attacker to unauthorizedly mint approximately one quadrillion MAPO tokens—roughly 100,000 times the legitimate circulating supply. The exploiter subsequently drained approximately 52 ETH (around $180,000) from Uniswap liquidity pools. This massive hyperinflation caused the market price of MAPO to plunge by approximately 96% within hours, falling from roughly $0.003 to $0.0001, causing an effective depeg and severe value impairment for WMAPO.
In the aftermath of the security incident, WMAPO's supply integrity and wrapped tokenomics remain compromised, with legacy contract addresses explicitly flagged as deprecated. The token exhibits minimal independent trading activity, low liquidity, and a small, shrinking holder base. Furthermore, public security audits and verified records concerning active development and team governance remain unavailable in evaluated sources.
