    Comprehensive evaluation of the token

UNIBTC (Universal BTC) by Bedrock is a Bitcoin liquid restaking token deployed across multiple EVM and non-EVM chains, offering yield on BTC collateral. However, evaluation reveals significant structural and historical risks. Data Gap Note: The Community Support section scored -1.0 due to an insufficient data gap regarding social engagement and governance metrics, so its 15% weight was redistributed proportionally across the remaining categories. The unadjusted weighted average score across the active sections (Active Development: 5.5, Tokenomics: 6.0, Market and Use Case: 6.5, Team and Governance: 4.5, Security and Audit History: 4.0) is 5.35/10. However, the score is capped at 5.0 under the Red-Flag Cap rule due to a severe smart contract exploit and supply integrity failure within the past 24 months. Specifically: "On September 26, 2024, the Dedaub team discovered a critical vulnerability in the uniBTC vault smart contracts: a permissioned minter function allowed anyone depositing ETH to mint uniBTC in unbacked amounts (an infinite-mint bug, exploitable because ETH is worth far less than BTC)... The exploiter minted large amounts of uniBTC, dumped them into Uniswap and other AMM pools, and stole approximately $2M directly (Dedaub; QuillAudits reports ~$2M, CryptoRank cites $1.7M in uniBTC)." This incident also caused a temporary severe depeg on decentralized exchanges. While Bedrock contained the issue and reimbursed affected users, the presence of an anonymous team, fully centralized governance, and high rehypothecation risk warrant caution.

    About Universal BTC (UNIBTC)

UNIBTC (Universal BTC), also known as uniBTC, is a Bitcoin liquid restaking token developed by Bedrock (Bedrock Technology). Designed as a yield-bearing receipt and rehypothecation asset, the token allows Bitcoin holders to deploy collateral across decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols for staking, lending, and liquidity provision. The token operates on Ethereum as an ERC-20 contract and maintains a wide multichain presence across networks including BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism, Mantle, Mode, BOB, ZetaChain, Base, and Solana. UNIBTC has no fixed maximum supply and does not utilize native token emission schedules, functioning as a 1:1 BTC-denominated synthetic asset backed by deposited collateral.

The protocol's architecture relies on Bedrock's smart contract infrastructure for minting, staking management, and redemptions. UNIBTC integrates Chainlink Secure Mint to assist with collateralization verification. Governance remains centralized under the issuing team, with no active decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) or onchain voting mechanisms currently in place, though future governance token integration is planned. The token operates within a competitive landscape of wrapped and staked Bitcoin assets, experiencing thin liquidity and price dispersion across secondary decentralized markets.

On September 26, 2024, UNIBTC suffered a smart contract exploit stemming from a permissioned minter vulnerability introduced in a recent contract upgrade across at least eight blockchains. The flaw permitted unauthorized minting of unbacked uniBTC using ETH deposits, allowing the attacker to extract between $1.7 million and $2 million from decentralized exchange pools. The incident triggered a sharp, transient depeg on decentralized exchanges, with one Uniswap V3 pool temporarily falling to $17,889 per token before the vulnerability was contained. Bedrock subsequently enacted a reimbursement process to make affected depositors whole. The project continues to carry risks related to centralized control, an unidentified founding team, and layered counterparty exposure inherent to rehypothecated yield tokens.
