Comprehensive evaluation of the token
SHU (Shutter) serves as the governance token for Shutter DAO 0x36, which builds encrypted mempool and threshold cryptography solutions. While the project exhibits structured on-chain governance (utilizing Timelock contracts and Fractal) and active development with recent SDK integrations in 2026, it suffers from severe market and structural weaknesses. The tokenomics reflect significant insider concentration (25% combined across core developer brainbot and team allocations) and structural sell pressure without direct yield or fee capture. Market traction is exceptionally weak, marked by micro-cap status, near-zero daily trading volume ($28-$89 on major trackers), and a largely dormant community since mid-2024. A data gap exists in the Security and Audit History section, which was excluded from scoring due to severe name collision with unrelated software in retrieved search sources. No qualifying red-flag events or fraudulent behaviors were identified, but poor liquidity and dormant community interest present substantial risks.

About Shutter (SHU)
Shutter (SHU) is the governance token for Shutter DAO 0x36, an entity that funds the development of the Shutter Network and elects Shutter Keypers. The protocol develops encrypted mempool and threshold cryptography solutions, operating across Ethereum with deployed contracts across networks including Gnosis Chain, Base, and Optimism. Governance is executed on-chain through an Ethereum Governor contract, a Timelock contract, and the Fractal governance interface to coordinate protocol parameter adjustments and Keyper set management.
The SHU token has a fixed maximum supply of 1 billion tokens with no ongoing inflationary minting mechanics. Its utility is restricted to protocol governance, containing no native staking yields or fee-capture mechanisms. Token distribution includes substantial insider allocations, comprising a 15% share allocated to core developer brainbot and a 10% allocation assigned to the team, alongside vesting allocations for early contributors and SPT holders.
The project faces risks related to market liquidity and community engagement. Trading activity reflects micro-cap status with near-zero daily volume and thin decentralized exchange liquidity. Community and governance forum participation have remained largely dormant since mid-2024, following early governance challenges such as the invalidation of proposal #5 shortly after the token was unpaused. While no smart contract exploits, hacks, or protocol insolvencies are documented, the token remains exposed to structural sell pressure from treasury token sales and Liquidity Bootstrapping Pools (LBPs).
