Comprehensive evaluation of the token
REP (Augur [OLD]) is a deprecated legacy token following a protocol fork and migration to a successor token (AUGUR), with the migration window having closed around August 1, 2026. Two sections (Active Development and Community Support) lacked sufficient active data and were excluded from the weighted scoring calculation under data gap rules. The remaining sections reflect an abandoned legacy asset with no active utility, minimal liquidity, delistings on major exchanges including Kraken, and an absence of ongoing governance or security maintenance. Historical audits uncovered critical vulnerabilities in earlier iterations that were remediated via token migration, but the legacy contract currently holds no protocol support or roadmap. Under the Deprecated/Migrated Token Rule, this legacy asset should be strictly avoided.

About Augur [OLD] (REP)
Augur [OLD] (REP) is a deprecated legacy token that migrated to a successor token (AUGUR) following a protocol fork. Operating on the Ethereum blockchain, REP originally functioned as the reputation and staking asset for the Augur decentralized prediction market platform, historically established by Jack Peterson and Joey Krug with Vitalik Buterin serving as an advisor. In its original design, REP was used by market reporters and stakers to resolve prediction market outcomes, handle disputes, and earn reporting fees.
Throughout its history, the protocol underwent several security reviews and smart contract updates. In July 2017, Zeppelin Solutions disclosed a critical-severity vulnerability in the production REP contract, which led the team to freeze the asset and migrate user balances before any unauthorized theft occurred. Subsequent security evaluations, including an OpenZeppelin audit in 2020 on Augur Core v2, identified and remediated reentrancy-related vulnerabilities. Following the protocol fork and the transition to the new AUGUR token, the legacy REP contract ceased receiving software updates, security audits, and formal maintenance.
The legacy REP asset has experienced major market contractions, deprecation, and delistings. The migration window to the successor token concluded around August 1, 2026, leaving legacy REP without protocol utility, active emissions, or governance influence. Major exchanges, including Kraken, delisted legacy REP and REPV2, pausing funding and trading in July 2026. The asset has recorded an extreme market drawdown of more than 99% from its historical all-time high of $123.24 down to approximately $0.85, accompanied by near-zero trading activity and illiquid markets.
