Comprehensive evaluation of the token
SelfKey (KEY) is a legacy digital identity and KYC protocol launched in the 2017/2018 era that has suffered from significant market abandonment, lack of adoption, and severe illiquidity (sub-$50K market cap with over 99.9% price drawdown from ATH). Development appears confined to quiet maintenance, utility has deteriorated following the closure of official staking pools in March 2025, and third-party security audits are lacking alongside an 'F' grade in domain application security. Note on Data Gaps: Community Support was scored -1.0 due to contract migration, and its weight was redistributed across the remaining categories. Prominently, the evaluated original contract has been deprecated following a migration to a new contract address, rendering the legacy asset obsolete.

About SelfKey (KEY)
SelfKey (KEY) is a deprecated digital identity and Know Your Customer (KYC) token whose original contract has been superseded following a migration to a new contract address. Originating as a 2017/2018-era initial coin offering (ICO), the token was deployed as an ERC-20 asset on Ethereum with a bridged deployment on Polygon PoS. The project was designed to facilitate self-sovereign digital identity management and credential verification under the centralized administration of the Mauritius-based SelfKey Foundation, led by founder Edmund Lowell.
The token features a permanently capped total supply of 6 billion units with no ongoing issuance. However, native utility has diminished significantly over time, and the project's official staking pools were permanently shut down in March 2025. Token development remains limited to minimal maintenance, with an absence of token-level GitHub activity, smart contract audits, or decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) governance proposals.
SelfKey has suffered from substantial market abandonment and liquidity contraction, marked by an unrecovered price drawdown exceeding 99.9% from its ICO and historical peaks, as well as a market capitalization under $50,000. Security assessments also present concerns; the project lacks verifiable third-party smart contract audit documentation, and domain evaluations have assigned the project's website an "F" grade for application security.
