Comprehensive evaluation of the token
JOULE is the native utility, staking, and governance token of Kinetic, an algorithmic lending protocol on the Flare Network. The project exhibits signs of near-total market abandonment and economic stagnation. Development and organic community activity have largely ceased across 2025-2026, with no traceable ongoing updates or governance participation. Economically, the token suffers from severe distress, marked by a price drawdown exceeding 99.6% from its all-time high and daily trading volume falling below $500, rendering it functionally illiquid. Although the protocol previously established security arrangements—including a WatchPug audit and an emergency response that successfully thwarted an October 2024 flash-loan exploit without depositor losses—the reliance on centralized emergency levers and the collapse in market demand heavily outweigh these baseline protections. All six sections provided sufficient data, resulting in a weighted average score of 2.6/10.

About Joule (JOULE)
JOULE is the native utility, staking, and governance token of Kinetic, an algorithmic non-custodial lending and borrowing protocol operating on the Flare Network. Developed in collaboration with Rome Blockchain Labs, the protocol allows users to lend and borrow digital assets, integrating Flare features such as FTSOv2 and FAssets to accommodate non-native collateral assets.
The token has a fixed maximum supply of 1,500,000,000 units, structured to support protocol development, ecosystem growth, and liquidity incentives. Users who stake JOULE receive non-transferable Kii tokens, which grant governance participation rights and protocol fee rebates. Unstaking JOULE requires adherence to a 90-day cooldown period or electing an instant exit option, which applies a 35% penalty where forfeited tokens are burned.
Kinetic's smart contracts underwent an audit by WatchPug in April 2024. On October 31, 2024, the protocol faced a flash-loan exploit attempt that was intercepted via an automated monitoring trigger and an emergency contract pause, securing approximately $5 million in assets and leaving depositors unaffected. However, the reliance on team-controlled emergency mechanisms introduces governance centralization concerns. Additionally, the asset has experienced severe market distress, characterized by a price decline of over 99.6% from its all-time high of approximately $0.06703, daily trading volumes below $500, and a lack of active development or community updates.
