Comprehensive evaluation of the token
IRYS (Irys) presents a mixed profile characterized by solid engineering progress paired with significant structural and data visibility risks. On the technical side, Active Development scores strongly (8.0/10) with disciplined releases, scheduled 2026 hard forks, and continuous CI tooling. Tokenomics (7.0/10) feature an EVM-compatible programmable datachain utility model with aggressive fee burns, though this is counterbalanced by heavy insider concentration (44.1% allocated to team and investors) and substantial FDV unlock dilution risk with only 20% circulating supply. Market traction (5.5/10) and Community Support (3.5/10) remain weak, showing minimal real-world transaction volume and speculative, narrow engagement facing stiff competition from established storage networks. Security and Audits (4.5/10) reflect clean historical incident records with no exploits or regulatory actions, but suffer from the lack of published third-party security audits. Notably, Team and Governance had insufficient data (-1.0) due to search collisions with unrelated entities, and was excluded from the weighted score calculation with its weight redistributed proportionally.

About Irys (IRYS)
IRYS is the native utility token of Irys, a Layer-1 programmable datachain designed to unify onchain data storage with EVM-compatible execution via the IrysVM. The platform provides both term and permanent data storage options to support data-intensive and artificial intelligence applications. Irys launched its mainnet in November 2025, supported by dedicated gateway and uploader infrastructure, and maintains an ERC-20 representation with approximately 8,100 holders on Ethereum.
The IRYS token has a fixed maximum supply of 10 billion units and functions as the medium for computation fees, storage fees, validator collateral, and protocol governance. Its tokenomics implement a push-pull mechanism featuring an initial annual emission rate of approximately 2% that halves every four years, paired with fee-burning mechanisms that destroy 50% of execution fees and over 95% of storage fees. Technical operations include structured release schedules and hard forks, such as the Aurora and Borealis network upgrades planned for mid-2026.
The project faces notable structural and market risks. While no protocol hacks, exploits, or regulatory enforcement actions have been identified, Irys operates without published third-party security audits. The token distribution exhibits high insider concentration, with team members and investors holding approximately 44.1% of the total supply, and a low initial circulating supply of 20% that subjects the token to ongoing unlock dilution pressure. Furthermore, staking delegation is not yet active, onchain transaction and storage volume remain low, and the platform competes against established storage networks such as Arweave and Filecoin. The permissionless nature of its gateway infrastructure has also required active abuse monitoring to address third-party phishing and malware uploads.
