    AI Analysis

    Comprehensive evaluation of the token

DEGEN (Degen) scores an overall 3.9/10 based on the evaluated sections. A data gap was present in Community Support (-1.0), as retrieved sources lacked verifiable data regarding official social channels, Discord/Telegram engagement, or DAO governance forums, so its weight was redistributed across the remaining five sections. Active Development scores very low (1.5/10) due to the core team announcing the sunset of Degen Chain (an Arbitrum Orbit L3 on Base) effective August 31, 2026, alongside collapsed on-chain activity and an absence of recent technical milestones. Tokenomics (4.5/10) benefits from a fully circulating supply with negligible insider lockups (60% allocated to community airdrops), though demand sustainability is weak following an approximate 98% drop from its all-time high. Market and Use Case (4.0/10) reflects a niche social tipping application within the Farcaster ecosystem facing fierce competition and faded narrative momentum. Team and Governance (4.0/10) shows an unverified linkage between founders and the contract alongside a lack of structured on-chain governance. Security and Audit History (6.0/10) confirms an EtherAuthority audit and a clean incident ledger with no hacks, exploits, or regulatory actions found. With Degen Chain entering a terminal wind-down posture and limited remaining utility, the overall profile is highly unfavorable.

    About Degen (DEGEN)

DEGEN (Degen) is a community token operating primarily on the Base blockchain that also served as the native gas token for Degen Chain, an Arbitrum Orbit Layer 3 network settling on Base, which is scheduled for official sunset on August 31, 2026. Launched in January 2024, the ERC-20 token was created to facilitate social tipping and reward content creators within the decentralized social network Farcaster.

The tokenomics of DEGEN feature an initial supply of 37 billion tokens, designed with a community-focused distribution where approximately 60% was allocated to airdrops and 15% was reserved for the founding team and investors. The token is effectively fully circulating with no major lockup schedules remaining, though a 1% annual inflation rate is scheduled to begin in 2028. The token's smart contract was audited by the security firm EtherAuthority, and the project maintains a clean record regarding smart contract exploits or regulatory actions.

DEGEN has experienced notable challenges regarding network utility and market performance. Following the announced deprecation and wind-down of Degen Chain, on-chain activity on the network has declined to near-dormant levels with no recent technical milestones following an ArbOS 32 upgrade in January 2025. In addition, DEGEN has suffered a severe price decline of approximately 98% from its all-time high of $0.065, while the project lacks formalized on-chain governance frameworks or verifiable decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) voting mechanisms.
