Comprehensive evaluation of the token
Chiliz (CHZ) demonstrates strong technical momentum and solid operational backing as the leading utility asset for sports fan engagement on Socios.com and the Chiliz Chain. The project maintains an active development cadence (Score 8.5), highlighted by recent hard forks (Pepper8 in August 2025 and Snake8 in October 2025) and regular protocol upgrades. The underlying organization (The Chiliz Group, founded by Alexandre Dreyfus) is well-capitalized with a clean operational record dating back to 2018, though governance operates under a relatively centralized Proof of Staked Authority (PoSA) framework with 11 institutional validators (Team and Governance: 6.5). On the tokenomics front (Score 6.0), the transition to an inflationary model via the Dragon8 hard fork in May 2024 introduced an 8.8% initial annual inflation rate (decaying to 1.88%), counterbalanced by EIP-1559 fee burns, though long-term value capture remains tied to fan-token market cycles. Security fundamentals are robust with comprehensive smart contract audits from CertiK, Halborn, and EtherAuthority, proactive European regulatory compliance (MFSA approval and ESMA MiCA whitepaper registration), and zero reported hacks or security compromises. The Security score (5.0) reflects market drawdown criteria rather than security failures, meaning no qualifying red-flag cap applies to the overall synthesis.

About Chiliz (CHZ)
Chiliz (CHZ) is the native utility and governance asset of the Chiliz Chain and powers the Socios.com sports fan-engagement platform. Founded in 2018 by Alexandre Dreyfus under The Chiliz Group, the project provides infrastructure enabling sports franchises, such as FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, to issue branded fan tokens and interact with their fan bases. CHZ operates as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and as the native gas, staking, and settlement asset on the EVM-compatible Chiliz Chain.
The network uses a Proof of Staked Authority (PoSA) consensus mechanism secured by 11 institutional validators. In May 2024, the Dragon8 hard fork transitioned CHZ from a fixed maximum supply of 8,888,888,888 tokens to an inflationary model featuring an initial 8.80% annual base inflation that decays toward a 1.88% floor, paired with an EIP-1559-style transaction fee burning mechanism. Development has continued with subsequent protocol updates, including the Pepper8 hard fork in August 2025, which integrated Paribu Net into the network, and the Snake8 hard fork in October 2025.
From a security standpoint, Chiliz has no recorded smart contract exploits, hacks, or hostile exchange delistings, and its core infrastructure has undergone audits by CertiK, Halborn, and EtherAuthority. The project has pursued regulatory compliance, obtaining in-principle approval for a Class 3 Virtual Financial Assets Act license from the Malta Financial Services Authority in October 2024 and registering its whitepaper under the European Union's MiCA framework. However, the token carries notable risks, including an unrecovered price drawdown of more than 50% from its all-time high, centralization concerns stemming from its permissioned 11-validator PoSA framework and 10,000,000 CHZ validator requirement, ongoing dilution risk from its inflationary tokenomics, and reliance on cyclical fan-token demand.
