Comprehensive evaluation of the token
The Bankless BED Index (BED) is an on-chain index product co-created by Index Coop and Bankless DAO to offer equal exposure to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the DeFi Pulse Index (DPI). While the underlying Set Protocol architecture has undergone reputable audits by OpenZeppelin and ABDK, the product currently suffers from severe dormancy, illiquidity, and negligible market traction, with a market capitalization under $500,000 and minimal trading activity. There were no protocol-level exploits, bad debts, or fraud incidents reported. However, Active Development could not be scored due to insufficient data (-1.0), as development, analytics, and operational activity have largely ceased or appear deprecated. After excluding the Active Development section and redistributing its weight proportionally, the weighted average score is 3.9. Because the project is effectively defunct and lacking active stewardship, the recommendation is set to Avoid.

About Bankless BED Index (BED)
Bankless BED Index (BED) is an on-chain crypto index token that appears deprecated and largely defunct, having ceased ongoing product development and operational updates. Launched in July 2021 through a collaboration between Index Coop and Bankless DAO, the token was created to provide equal-weight passive portfolio exposure to Bitcoin, Ether, and the DeFi Pulse Index (DPI). The index was deployed on the Ethereum blockchain and Polygon POS using the underlying smart contract infrastructure of Set Protocol, incorporating a 0.35% streaming fee split between both organizing DAOs.
Under the index's intended design, the underlying basket of assets was scheduled for monthly rebalancing. The protocol architecture relies on Set Protocol's core contracts, which underwent security audits by OpenZeppelin and ABDK Consulting. However, the specific BED index implementation did not undergo a standalone audit. There have been no reported security exploits, contract hacks, or bad-debt events associated with the token.
BED has experienced significant market contraction and minimal adoption. The token has suffered a price decline of over 50% in the past year and trades with negligible daily volume and a market capitalization under $500,000. Aggregator data shows an inactive holder base of approximately 664 addresses and shrinking circulating supply driven by redemptions, alongside an absence of active governance proposals, development updates, or analytics support from its issuing organizations.
