Comprehensive evaluation of the token
Altered State Machine (ASTO) is an ERC-20 utility and governance token originally designed for an NFT-based AI agent platform. The project has an identified data gap in Active Development (scored -1.0), as ASTO was officially deprecated and migrated to a new token named 'Think' in July 2025, halting active development on the legacy contract. The remaining sections reflect severe project dormancy, illiquidity (under $100 daily volume), and micro-cap status (~$723K–$737K market cap) following a >99.5% drawdown from all-time highs. While the founding team is publicly credentialed and three CertiK audits were completed in 2022 without critical exploits or fraud, the audits are years stale with an unresolved centralization privilege finding. Furthermore, planned DAO governance was never implemented. Because the ASTO token has been deprecated and superseded, it represents extreme risk.

About Altered State Machine (ASTO)
Altered State Machine (ASTO) is a deprecated token that migrated to a new token called Think following an announcement in July 2025. Originally deployed as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain, ASTO served as the utility and governance asset for the Altered State Machine protocol. The project was designed around a framework allowing users to create, train, own, and trade artificial intelligence agents integrated with non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The project was founded in Auckland, New Zealand, by David McDonald, Phill Williams, and Hal Smith-Steven, receiving backing from venture firms such as Outlier Ventures and Delphi Digital. ASTO has a total supply of 2,384,000,000 tokens, with allocations designated across the founding company, ecosystem reserves, and a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Although governance was planned to transition to an entity termed the "ElderDAO," the structure was never fully deployed, leaving protocol governance centralized.
Following its deprecation, the token exhibits severe illiquidity and dormancy. ASTO suffered a price collapse of over 99.5% from its all-time high of approximately $0.56 to around $0.0025, reducing its market capitalization below $1 million alongside daily trading volumes dropping to negligible levels. Security reviews by CertiK produced three audits in 2022, which left an acknowledged but unresolved major finding regarding centralized administrative privileges, with no further audits performed thereafter.
